The Spotted Lake

            Next amazing lake in the world is Spotted Lake in Canada. It is a major attraction to visitors from around the world. They cannot miss this full of history landmark as they drive along the highway and they can get a good view from the vehicle.

 In summer months, this lake water evaporates and has a very high concentrated of numerous different minerals such as calcium, magnesium sulphates and sodium sulphates. These minerals crystallize and produce large spots on the surface of the lake. The colours of each spots would change due to composition changes at different time throughout the summer. Depending on the mineral composition, the spots will the colour of green, blue, pale yellow or white.




There is the reason why this lake is called historic lake. This lake was considered sacred since the waters were therapeutic and had healing powers. The native Indians used mud and waters of the lake to heal aches and ailments. It has been used by the warriors so they could heal themselves by their different wounds.

Another historic fact was that the minerals in the lake were used to make ammunition during the First World War. The minerals were harvested for manufacturer of ammunition. The Chinese were told to skim up to a ton of salts a day from the surface of the lake. It is amazing how the minerals from the lake can be the amour for war.

Today the lake is surrounded by fence to keep people off it and to maintain it’s sacred. But the visitors can always get the clear view from the highway.
